NEWSLETTER

Your PUSC Newsletter is produced each week of the season. Your manager should distribute this each weekend. If you don't receive a copy, ask your manager or see a committee member.

The Newsletter is our ‘Communication Lifeline' with all members, player's etc. Not only does it contain match reports, score table to date, but has interesting articles, upcoming events and information.

We welcome any reader's contributions and/or suggestions for your Newsletter.

SPONSORS

You will also note a number of sponsor's advertisements in the newsletter and around the ground. These are companies and/or individuals that have taken sponsorship and advertising for the season. We hold the belief that “you scratch my back ... I'll scratch yours”.
So support these sponsors and don't forget to say where you saw their advertisement.
Feedback to sponsors is all-important and if they get a good result this year, they will queue up next year to be involved with PUSC.
If your company would like to sponsor the club or you know of someone who would like to sponsor the club please contact secretary.
The more money we get from sponsorship the better facilities and equipment we can provide for the children.

SOCIAL EVENTS & FUNDRAISING

Socials

Socials are organised for the benefit of all members, players, coaches, managers and parents. The aim is to engender a closer association with others from your Club not to make a profit. This may lead to long lasting friendships, good business contacts, or it might just result in knowing a few more faces to say ‘hi' to. We urge you to attend social activities whenever possible. Details are in your weekly newsletter and signposted at the home ground canteen - you never know, you might just have a good time!

Fundraising

Obviously, this is vital to any amateur club. There will be many ways in which fundraising will be conducted throughout the year and we ask you for your support (both financial and occasionally physical) so that we can assist your children to continue in a worthwhile sport.

PUSC does not ‘make profit'. All funds raised are ‘ploughed back' into equipment, facilities and other needs of the members, players, coaches and managers of the Club.

Canteen & BBQ

The Canteen and BBQ are open every day when Games have been allocated to William Lawson Park .We will be asking each team to nominate parents to work one or two days in the Canteen and/or BBQ during the season. There will always be the Supervisor who ‘knows the ropes' and we usually need 4-6 people per day, depending on the number and time of games on that day. The arrangements are flexible and your manager will be letting you know when it's your team's turn. This is a good way of getting to know people in the Club. Please don't let your Club down.

PRESIDENT'S WELCOME

Welcome to the year 2008 soccer season.

I would like to welcome players and their families and hope that together we can make this season an enjoyable and a rewarding one.

Our volunteers, namely the committee, coaches and managers hope to contribute towards our children/players enjoying their soccer and improving their soccer skills. Anyone who wishes to help the committee would be most welcome.

Please remember that our committee, coaches and managers are made up of volunteers who give up a lot of their time to give our players the opportunity to play and develop their soccer skills.

Parents and adult players, remember that you are Club members and as such it is up to you to work for the benefit of the Club.

Please remember to support our sponsors as these businesses help keep your costs to a minimum.

If you can help by obtaining more sponsorship, this would be greatly appreciated.

Yours in Sport

P.U.S.C HISTORY

The Club was founded in 1970 with the aim of providing and fostering sport within the Prospect area.

Since it's first season of competition in 1971 we have been one of the strongest clubs in the district and will continue to strive to achieve this goal in the new millennium.

The Club caters for all ages and skill levels from Under 6's to State League. Our main aim is to have all players enjoy the game of soccer and develop sportsmanship and teamwork.

Our State League side since 1987 has kept a high standard of soccer within our club, which has given our juniors something to strive for (and achieve) in years to come.

The Club's Life Members have been an essential part in the success of the Club and have been immortalised on our Life Members board located in the canteen.

The new season promises to be very exciting with new ideas and continued success on and off the field.

PLAYERS RESPONSIBILITIES

•  Uphold and be proud of the good name of Prospect United Soccer Club. (All Players are ambassadors of the Club).

•  Play for the fun of it, and not just to please parents and coaches.

PARENTS & SPECTATORS RESPONSIBILITIES

•  Encourage children to participate, do not force them. Remember that organised sport is predominately for your children's enjoyment, not yours.

•  There is only ONE coach. Don't confuse your child by calling advice from the sideline. The coach makes decisions for specific reasons, which may not always be obvious from a spectator's viewpoint. Focus on the child's efforts and performance rather than winning or losing.

•  Encourage players to always participate by the rules and official's decisions.

•  Never ridicule or yell at a child for making a mistake or losing a game. Positive comments are motivational.

•  Remember that children learn best by example. Applaud good performance and efforts from each team. Congratulate all participants upon their performance regardless of the game's outcome.

•  It is the team who wins or loses, not any individual/s.

•  Respect official's decisions and teach children to do likewise. The referee has the final decision. If there has been a serious misjudgment during the game your coach will handle this formally, through the appropriate channels. This is not the job of any spectator or parent.

•  Give your child sufficient time to be ready and get to a game - he/she will not play well if rushed or worried about getting to the game on time.

•  When it is your team's turn to nominate helpers for the Canteen and BBQ please accept readily.

•  Parents: Help set up soccer field – ensure that equipment and facilities meet safety standards.

•  Ensure that William Lawson Park is kept clean and tidy.

•  Support all efforts to remove verbal and physical abuse from sporting activities. Do not use foul language or harass players, coaches or officials. Condemn the use of violence in any form, be it by spectators, coaches, officials or players.

•  Parents remain responsible for their children at all times. Please do not leave your children at training or games unsupervised. Coaches and Managers are there to try and help your children play soccer and not to take over supervision of your children.

•  Most importantly - your child is there to have fun, make some new friends, and enjoy the benefits which go with a team sport and a good, sound Club.
